The President of the European Council Charles Michel had a telephone conversation on November 19 with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. This is stated in a statement issued by the European Council.
The President of the European Council Charles Michel proposed to hold the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels within the framework of the EU’s Eastern Partnership Summit. “Leaders have agreed to meet in Brussels to discuss the regional situation and ways of overcoming tensions for a prosperous and stable South Caucasus, which the EU supports.”
As a result of telephone conversations with the leaders, an agreement was reached between the two countries establish a direct communication line, at the level of respective Ministers of Defence, to serve as an incident prevention mechanism.
